John Wright was first elected to the City Council in 2010. Originally from San Antonio, Texas, he grew up in Olympia and attended Olympia High School. After serving in the U.S. Navy and living in Seattle, he moved his family to Lake Forest Park in 1996.

Education and Professional Experience

John Wright graduated from the University of Washington in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Engineering. John also earned the Basic and Advanced Certificates of Municipal Leadership from the Association of Washington Cities during his first Council term.

John Wright attended the U.S. Navy’s Senior Enlisted Academy and retired at the rank of Command Master Chief in 2008, after 30 years of service. He was employed as a Resident Engineer for Seattle/King County METRO for 30 years, where he specialized in major transportation and wastewater treatment capital projects. He is now a project director for a major project management firm. He coached youth football in Shoreline and volunteers with the Lake Forest Park Rotary and Lake Forest Park Presbyterian Church.
