If you are a runner or hiker please take a moment to review the following simple safety recommendations. They are just as important as a good pair of running or walking shoes. Keep safe while enjoying your favorite exercise routes!
Before you leave:
- Always tell someone where you are going and when you will return.
- Make sure friends and family know of your favorite exercise routes.
- Know where telephones are located along the course or consider carrying a cellular phone.
- Carry your driver's license or ID card. Include medical alert tags or information.
- Wear reflective material.
While you‘re exercising:
- Stay alert. The more aware you are, the less vulnerable you are.
- Don't wear headsets. Listen to your surroundings
- Exercise in familiar areas
- Run against traffic so you can observe approaching vehicles.

- Wear a vest with reflective tape.
- Keep alert.
If you are away from home
