The King County Assessor’s office establishes the assessed value for each home in the county. The assessed value is public information. You can access the GIS (Geographical Information System) information about your home from the internet. To access information go to King County Parcel viewer called iMAP www.metrokc.gov/gis/mapportal/iMAP_about.htm# and select “launching iMAP.” On the left hand side of the map select “Property Search” and search by parcel number, address or intersection.

Once you enter the address, you can view the assessor’s report on the property. The page links with many pieces of information about each property. For example, the “Taxable value history” opens to show a table with past four years of property tax value.

Additional details on the last four years is under “Property Tax information for this Property, ” including a chart of the current year tax and fee distribution.

As of June 2009, the average house value in Lake Forest Park is estimated between $370-380,000 dollars. This is a about a 30 percent decline from the highest values prior to the current recession. Any estimate of value depends on many specific factors. In the example above, the Lake Forest park home is assessed at $339,000; the city receives $459.63 annually in property tax revenue.
