Customers will see an increase in their solid waste bills

There will be an increase in solid waste disposal rates starting January 1, 2008. The new rate will be $95.00 per ton. The King County Council approved this rate increase in July 2007. The rate increase will pay for fuel, equipment maintenance costs and other programs of the King County Solid Waste Division. This is the first rate increase since January 1999. There will likely be an additional increase in the city rates as well. This increase is a reflection of the Consumer Price index increases within the local contract. Notification of any increase will be sent to consumers directly from the hauler.
