December 3, 2007 6:45 pm

Lake Forest Park and the region experienced significant flooding over the past 24 hours.  The rainfall exceeded five inches.   Streams overflowed their banks, streets were flooded and several roads were closed.

The City activated its Emergency Operations Center and deployed additional public works personnel and police officers to respond to this natural disaster.  Governor Gregoire declared a state of emergency and Mayor Hutchinson issued an emergency declaration.

As of Monday evening, the rains have decreased.  “ I urge you to use caution as the streams recede.  Please stay out of the streams and standing water, ” said Mayor Hutchinson.
