Over the past several weeks, residents have expressed serious concerns regarding the sidewalk completion and ingress and egress from NE 155th Place and the driveways serving several apartment buildings.
As a result of the concerns expressed to both the State and the City of Lake Forest Park, Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) revised the proposed striping to increase the walking area adjacent to the lane edge to approximately five feet.
Next week, the City is meeting with the WSDOT Regional Administrator to discuss additional sidewalks and safety improvements. Sidewalk construction involves acquiring right-of-way, moving the utility poles and the accompanying underground and above ground wiring and changing to the storm drain system.
In addition, WSDOT is examining the existing traffic signal on SR 522 at NE 165th Street to see if modifications can be made to accommodate protected turns for northbound traffic.
Public safety is everyone’s paramount concern. The City and WSDOT will be working together to make the corridor as safe as possible and address the concerns of residents.
