Lake Forest Park Revises Parking Ordinance

The City enacted a revised parking ordinance in response to growing neighborhood concern about commercial vehicles, trailers and trucks being parked in the right-of-way. These vehicles are causing concerns about  sight distance and danger to pedestrians and the use of the public street for parking and storage of commercial vehicles.

According to the new ordinance, no one shall park a truck or trailer or any type of construction equipment on any public right-of-way in any residential zone of the city at any time. There was an exception made for those engaged in the loading or unloading of materials or passengers, or in connection with an approved construction project. There was also an allowance made for recreational vehicles not used for commercial purposes.

In addition, extended parking will not be allowed. Specifically, privately owned vehicles will not be allowed to park for more than 72-hours in Lake Forest Park. Parking infractions will be given to those cited re-parking a vehicle within the same block in order to avoid a parking time limit.
