News Release

Helpful Connections Northshore/Shoreline Edition

The Northshore/Shoreline Community Network Cultural Awareness, Resources and Enrichment (CARE) Team announces the unveiling of the Helpful Connections Northshore/Shoreline Edition Multilingual Resource Guide.  A new free community resource guide available in six languages:  English, Chinese, Korean, Russian, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

Over 30,000 copies are available for distribution and organizations and individuals may pick up guides at our Unveiling Event: Thursday, September 20, 3:30-4:30 PM at Third Place Commons in Lake Forest Park (17171 Bothell Way NE).

The Helpful Connections Northshore/Shoreline Edition can also be accessed online at: www.thirdplacecommons.org/care/ .

The resource guide was initiated by community coalition called the Northshore Shoreline Community Network.  Members of the Network represent business owners, local government, community members and service providers who are all concerned about the health and welfare of individuals and families in North King County.

In 2002 the Network convened a group of community members to discuss ways to help newly arrived immigrant and refugees adapt to our community.  The “Cultural Awareness Resources and Enrichment (CARE)” Team was developed to find some solutions.

The C.A.R.E. Team decided to adapt an existing guide, Helpful Connections, originally created for East King County residents, into a guide for North King County residents.  This resulted in the creation of the Helpful Connections: Northshore/Shoreline Edition.
