The Post Office substation located in the lower level of the Lake Forest Park Towne Centre will remain open on an interim basis.
The residents of Lake Forest Park as well as ownership of the shopping center are doing everything possible to ensure that this vital community staple remains part of the community, and most preferably part of the Lake Forest Park Towne Centre.
"Keeping the Post Office in the Towne Centre is critically important to the community," said Mayor Hutchinson. "The City is eager to work with the Towne Centre to keep these services available to the citizens who live and work in Lake Forest Park."
Madison Marquette has said that it values the needs of the community and wishes to continue providing resources such as the Post Office in the Towne Centre. The post office substation was slated to close its doors on August 31, 2007. Madison Marquette is working with the owner of the former Hallmark store to temporarily extend the current contract in order to maintain the operations of the post office substation on an interim basis. Alternate options are also being explored with current and potential merchants to secure a permanent long-term location for the Post Office substation.
