City Proposes Change in Parking Regulations for Commercial Vehicles

Public Hearing scheduled

The City of Lake Forest Park is proposing changes in the City’s parking regulations.  The proposed change is in response to a concern in some neighborhoods regarding commercial vehicles, trailers and trucks that are being parked in the right-of-way causing sight distance concerns, danger to pedestrians, as well as use of the public street for parking and storage of commercial vehicles.

City Council chambers

The major change in the ordinance adds an infraction for parking a commercial truck or trailer or any type of construction equipment on any right-of-way in any residential zone of the city at any time, unless engaged in the loading or unloading in connection with an approved construction project.  The ordinance calls allows for the issuance of parking infractions for moving or re-parking a vehicle parked in the right-of-way within the same block to avoid a parking time limit.  If you have any questions, please call Officer Ron Huston at 206-364-8216.
