The third annual LFP Reads title, is our first non-fiction, “history that reads like a novel,” as Walter Cronkite said of Timothy Egan’s telling of the ecological and human catastrophe of the Dust Bowl of the 1930’s and its impact on the southern Great Plains. He also traces the effect that bears on US farm policies even today, and prompts readers to ask if we’ve learned from tragedy. Egan, a Pulitzer-prize winning New York Times reporter, will read at Third Place Wed., Aug. 8 at 7.
