January, 2008: Emergency Preparedness and Helpful Neighbors
From the Computer of Mayor Dave
Last month’s flooding is a reminder that we all need to be prepared for emergencies. The Police Department and the Public Safety Commission have developed a packet of materials that will be distributed to homes this month. The packet includes an emergency resource guide, a magnet with emergency numbers to call and a brochure. Watch for these to be distributed by our Crime Watch volunteers.
I want to express my appreciation for the countless acts of good neighbors during the flooding. People removed debris from drain pipes, checked on the elderly, joined forces to clean up. Volunteers walked the streets on the Saturday following the storm event to see if they could provide assistance. Thank you.
