January, 2007: Multi-Use Trails
From the Computer of Mayor Dave
The City has just completed a long and complicated process on the conditional uses for multi-use trails. The City Council passed Ordinance 951 providing specific development criteria under which a multi-use or multi-purpose trail may be authorized as a conditional use.
At the same time, the Burke-Gilman Trail Citizens Advisory Group (CAG) completed one of their major tasks; on October 3, 2006, the CAG completed their Final Draft Phase 2 Report Evaluation of the Design Schematics. There is general agreement between the City and King County that the two documents, the CAG design schematics and the City Ordinance when implemented will provide a good basis for the redevelopment of the trail in a way that is responsive to multiple users.
Making government work requires give and take. We are all part of the Lake Forest Park family and we need to come together and look toward our shared future. I look forward to an improved trail.
