| April, 2005: Citizen Involvement: Key to Creative Problem Solving From the Computer of Mayor Dave |
||||||
| We all want government programs to reflect the wants and needs of the community. We have been wrestling with several issues. How should we plan for our land use? Do we want to change the sign code to allow for signs for a farmers market? How do we provide for the replacement of the aging sewer system, and pay for sewering unsewered areas? What is the benefit to the public of sewering, how much should homeowners pay? The secret to effective public involvement is to take an issue and involve citizens in addressing the issue. This releases the energy of our citizens and allows for creative problem solving. Our community involvement has grown in leaps and bounds. I like that! |
