| May, 2004: Women in Politics From the Computer of Mayor Dave |
||||
| Marie Wilson, the author of a new book on women in politics, was in town last month. She spoke of the need for women, especially younger women, to enter politics. I concur. There are lots of places where women can get involved in local politics. You can serve on a commission. I encourage you to consider this as a first step in politics. I want to see a woman in the White House. Electing women at all levels of government is an important first step. In Lake Forest Park there are seven council seats and the Mayors office. In addition, you can learn about the political process by serving on the Fire Commission, the water and sewer districts, and the local school board. Washington State has a good record of women in politics--but we can do better. |
