April, 2004: Volunteers in Our City
From the Computer of Mayor Dave
In April, community members leave, join, or recommit themselves to City commissions and committees. The City also has ongoing volunteers in Crime Watch and Block Watch programs.

This year many volunteers are working on a special task. The project is assisting the City in developing a strategic plan and an implementation plan for the Town Center. The first meeting drew a large crowd at Third Place Commons. I think people came because the meeting addresses the very center of where our community lives. Building on the success of the Third Place concept, they described visions for our City that were imaginative and stimulating.

Our next Public Forum is April 29 at 7 PM at Third Place Commons. We will discuss the vision and work on preliminary design concepts. The meeting will build on the ideas from the first meeting. Everyone is invited to come and provide input to this exciting activity. Please plan on attending and sharing your ideas. You can leave an imprint on the future of Lake Forest Park.
