December, 2003: Involvement and Cooperation Key to City Effectiveness
From the Computer of Mayor Dave
The elections are over. I appreciate the opportunity the citizens of Lake Forest Park have given me to serve you for another four years. The campaign process provided an excellent opportunity to reflect on our accomplishments and think about the future. The City was well served by my opponent who worked hard in the election and who will continue to serve the City on the Council.
In Lake Forest Park we are having a period of relative stability. We can accomplish a lot. There are people in our community who may disagree with some of our programs. They have provided constructive comment. I welcome all points of view because it strengthens our programs and our community.
Research shows that a cooperative atmosphere where transparency, debate and developing a common cause (meeting of the minds or negotiated settlement) is a far more effective way to accomplishing our goals than an adversarial model. The cooperative model is the one I will continue to foster and encourage. Where a stalemate occurs, then we vote and whoever prevails, that becomes the policy of the City.
I look forward to working toward the vision we have created for ourselves, especially the Sustaining Lake Forest Park activity. This project has a great potential for influencing the lives of our citizens and making a significant impact on our whole region. Thank you for supporting the work of the City, the Lake Forest Park Council, staff, and me personally to carry out our community expectations and dreams.
Seasons Greetings and Happy New Year.
-- Dave
