When spring comes, I like to get out and visit our parks. In the last several years we have developed Animal Acres,
Horizon View, Blue Heron, Lyon Creek and purchased land for the Grace Cole Nature Park. Last month we were able to secure about 1.7 additional acres for the Cole Park located in the hillside area for $78,000; $50,000 of which came from a King County grant.
We will be developing a draft master plan for the Cole Park this year which will be available for your input.
Marymoor Park, Cougar and Tiger mountains, the Aquatic Center and the Burke-Gilman Trail are part of the county parks and trail system. The trail runs like a ribbon along the lake in Lake Forest Park. On May 20, 2003 voters will be asked to vote on a 4 year 4.9 cent levy to support parks, open space and regional trails maintained by King County. The proposal would cost the owner of a $250,000 house $12.25 a year.
I encourage you to learn more about this levy. Information is available at http://dnr.metrokc/parks/levy
