The 2000 US Census reports on the statistics of Lake Forest Park. A city volunteer looked through all of the statistics of the City and found some interesting facts on the City and our over 55 population.

The City has 5091 households. 38.7% of the people in these households are over 55. A different way to look at it is that 24 percent (3,208 people) of the population is over 55 years of age.

Here are some interesting facts about us:

• 735 of us are over 75
• 1894 people are over 55
• 204 over-55 year old households earn less than $19,999. This is 11% of the over 55 households.
• 338 of the over-55 households earn less than $28,999 (17.8%)
• 50 householders over 55 earn more than $100,000 (2.5%)

I think it is important that we provide a senior housing option for anyone who wants to stay in Lake Forest Park so they can continue to be with their friends and family. The City Council is continuing to discuss the Senior Housing Overlay Zone and the Gateway Senior Housing Overlay Zone.
