There are many opportunities for outdoor recreation in Lake Forest Park. The City has seven parks and features the beautiful Burke-Gilman Trail which starts in Seattle, follows Lake Washington and passes through Lake Forest Park through to the City of Kenmore.

What Can I Enjoy in Lake Forest Park?
  1. Run/Jog: There are many picturesque trails to follow in the City. The City has a handy map that can get you started.
  2. Play Frisbee: Looking to play a game of Frisbee? Pfingst Animal Acres Park or Horizon View Park would be your best choices with their gorgeous open space.
  3. Kids Play Area: Horizon View Park has a fun choo-choo train for kids to enjoy as well as a full play area for kids to climb and explore. The park also features a basketball court to play a game of hoops and a baseball/softball backstop if you're looking to practice your next big pitch.
  4. See Wildlife: Grace Cole Nature Park is a favorite for birdwatchers and wildlife photographers. Take your next nature outing and enjoy the wildlife in this serene locale.
  5. Enjoy the Lake: Waterfront access is available for all to enjoy at Lyon Creek Waterfront Park. Take a walk down the dock on a sunny day or enjoy a sunset in the evening from the view available at a picnic table.
  6. Swim: Did you know the City offers discounted rates to Lake Forest Park residents at the City of Shoreline Spartan Recreation Center? Call City Hall to find out more.
  7. Lift Weights/Hit the Gym: Did you know the City offers discounted rates to Lake Forest Park residents at the City of Shoreline Spartan Recreation Center? Call City Hall to find out more.
  8. Off-leash Dog Park: There are no off-leash dog parks in Lake Forest Park. However, you will find one nearby in our neighboring City of Mountlake Terrace: Mountlake Terrace Dog Park is located at 53rd Ave West and 228th St. SW Mountlake Terrace, WA 98043.
  9. Take a Walk: There are so many beautiful walks available to you in Lake Forest Park! Grab a friend and explore on your own or Call City Hall for some new ideas or tips for places to explore.
  10. View Salmon: Did you know that City staff recently observed a Coho Salmon spawning in McAleer Creek? You can too! The Coho was spotted just alongside the creek in Blue Heron Park. Best salmon watching happens between September 1st-October 31st of each year. Call City Hall for more details.
