Description

Nearly four acres of maintained meadow and image of sculpture in Pfingst Animal Acres park,
                (c)City of Lake Forest Park tall, arching shade trees provide a lovely area for picnics or a nature walk. At the south edge of the park,MacAleer Creek winds through a forested corridor with a good salmon viewing platform. This platform is used by local schools for annual salmon release events.

 

The park also features a children‘s garden and a crushed gravel walking trail that loops the perimeter of the park. Amenities include a metal dogwood flower drinking fountain featuring a special drinking spout for dogs (funded by the City's 1% for the Arts) and a Mother with Otter Pup sculpture donated by the Lake Forest Park Garden Club.

History

The Pfingst family, previous owners of the property, pastured horses and other animals in the meadow. Local children fondly called it "animal acres." The City purchased the property with King County Open Space Bonds. in 1997, and the park opened to the public in November, 2000.
