About the Community Services Commission

Three City Commissions were combined to make the Community Services Commission: the Human Services Commission, the Parks and Recreation Commission and the Public Safety Commission. In line with the City‘s Vision, Core Principles and 2008 Adopted Priorities, the Community Services Commission will develop recommendations concerning:

  • social and health services and related programs
  • community policing, criminal justice, police and emergency services
  • active and passive parks, recreational programs, arts and other cultural activities and recreational facilities

Environmental/Legacy Grant Program

Lake Forest Park’s environmental mini-grant program has been expanded to include projects that further the City’s 100-Year Legacy Vision. The program will reimburse property owners and community organizations 50% of expenses for Legacy and environmental improvement projects, up to $500 for individual property owners, and $1,500 for group projects. The program is jointly sponsored by the Environmental Quality Commission and the Community Service Commission. Information and application forms are available at City Hall and by clicking below.

Parks and Recreation

Scholarship Reimbursements for Income Eligible Youth and Specialized Recreation Participants

The City of Lake Forest Park will reimburse eligible residents who are registered and attend cultural, recreation, and aquatic programs & camps through the Shoreline Parks Department. The City will reimburse each qualified resident up to $50.00 per quarter for fall, and up to $100 for Summer Quarter 2009.

King County housing repair program

King County Housing Repair Program provides assistance to low income homeowners with necessary health and safety, building preservation and energy related repairs. There are 0% interest loans and grants to help Lake Forest Park residents keep their homes safe and in good repair. The purpose of the program is to benefit low to moderate-income homeowners, and to help preserve existing housing, and keep our neighborhoods livable. furnace repair

Program incentives include:
Loans 0% Interest No Monthly Payments
Maximum Loan $25,000.00, Repaid at the time the home is sold or title is transferred or you’re no longer the primary resident.

Social Services

Good Neighbor Award

The Annual Good Neighbor Award is sponsored by this Commission. The deadline for nominations for the annual Lake Forest Park Good Neighbor Awards is March 25, 2010.  The award ceremony takes place at a reception at City Hall on May 13, 2010. Nominees must have made a memorable contribution to the Lake Forest Park community. It is not necessary for nominees to be city residents. Nominations are welcome any time.

Nominees must meet the following criteria.

  • They make a positive contribution to their Lake Forest Park neighborhood.
  • They have demonstrated efforts beyond the scope of citizen responsibilities.
  • They may not be employed by the City of Lake Forest Park or be a current elected City official.
