The Community and Government Affairs position performs the following ongoing functions:

Franchise Agreements
Cable Franchise
The Comcast Cable Franchise will end in 2009. The City of Lake Forest Park is part of a consortium working collaboratively to create a template agreement. This agreement will be modified by each local jurisdiction to reflect local concerns, however the bulk of the agreement will already have been agreed upon by Comcast in advance of the final review. Prior to adoption there will be a public hearing on the franchise agreement.

Comcast Cable online survey
The City collected 212 responses to the online survey about Comcast. The City posted the survey as part of the needs assessment process for the renewal of the franchise agreement with Comcast Cable.

Solid Waste Franchise
The City of Lake Forest Park has a franchise agreement with Allied Waste (purchased by Republic Services, Inc in 2009. The seven year agreement runs through 2014, and includes costs for service, service levels and standards of service.
