The council retreat began at 8:15 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2002 with a video presentation regarding working effectively as a group. Cmbr. Kiest provided the video and led the discussion.
Mayor pro tempore Thompson led the discussion regarding the development of the council work plan. Council members contributed their ideas for the council work plan discussion. Committee work assignments were discussed as well.
Following a short break at 10:45 a.m., the council held a discussion of budget policy issues. The discussion included a review of administrative budget options, identification of global policy issues, refining global budget policy values.
Finance Director John Hawley reviewed the administration’s proposed budget workshop process. Discussion followed regarding the presentation, information and consistency of the values identified by the mayor and council.
There being no further comments, the council retreat was concluded at 1:10 p.m.
